"My Introduction To You"

Though we may come from two worlds, our thinking is of the same.
Many mistakes in our earlier years, as aging, are becoming tame

Though our past is easy to look at, not healthy to dwell on it much
It's easier to turn to alcohol, but it's only a generic crutch!

Yes, alcohol and drugs are easy; as staying sober is a stress
But continuing in this unseen addiction, our lives are becoming a mess

The Devil and his angels keep forcing these addictions our way
Without asking for God's help, in these prisons we will stay!

Although I am incarcerated, prison is also on the streets
As many are hooked on drugs, buying crack as if packaged treats!

I only write this now, hoping to meet anyone I can
But "not" creating this poetry, I truly would not be a man!

As this is my new talent and I choose to share my shame
Hoping my twenty years in prison will prove to you it's no game!

Though sincerely I admit, I am sometimes still a mess
Yet, I've taken upon my shoulders to just tell you, "God bless!"

I was an alcoholic, now sober for 18 years, I just need "self-forgiveness." Hope to hear from anyone who "believes" in "rehabilitation"?

I love music (Cher, Madonna, Tina Turner, Journey, C. Lauper, Quiet Riot, Bangles, Beach Boys, most of all 70s and 80s music. Rick Springfield, Genesis. I love basketball, football, baseball.
