To My Potential Pen Friend,

I'm a 44-year-old of Mexican descent. I speak, read, and write English and Spanish. I consider myself a respectable, trustworthy, honest, and easygoing man. I grew up in the Los Angeles area/Bassett. I've been incarcerated up here in Pelican Bay's Security Housing Unit (SHU) for 17 years.

We don't have any movement back here in the SHU, no interaction with anybody. We're slammed down all day so as you could imagine my days are long and monotonous. I do what I can to stay busy, read, work out, study. I'm in the process of earning an "Associate in Arts Degree" through correspondence college courses.
